The earliest record of the town's law enforcement dates back to 1913, with Alex Rutledge serving as the Town Marshal. Over the years, the town has seen its fair share of events, from the dynamiting of the Post Office safe during an attempted burglary in 1919 to the arrest of John Swanson, owner of the Cliff House Hotel and member of the Morrison town council, in 1921 for possessing a large quantity of moonshine whisky.
The town's law enforcement evolved from a Marshal Service to the Police Department in the late '80s under the leadership of Robert Wasko, who served as the Chief for approximately 30 years, making him the longest-standing law enforcement official on record. The department has since undergone several changes, increasing productivity, safety, and effectiveness through proper training and community interaction.
